Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic senior Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS ) to our Colorectal Nursing team within the surgical division . You will need to have a background in cancer nursing and be keen to innovate, lead, and improve services .
The post is a permanent Macmillan CNS post and the post holder will work with the current band 7 ensuring highest standards of care for colorectal patients. The role will work closely with the Trust Personalised Care Lead Nurse focusing on driving the personalised care agenda and service improvements .
The band 6 role will work collaboratively with band 7 and MDT., To work with the band 7 to maintain the Colorectal service
Clinical expert and role model demonstrating high standards of quality care and providing clinical leadership to others. As clinical expert lead the development of clinical nursing services within the field, implementing national cancer initiatives at a local level contributing towards strategic decision making and implementing policies appropriate to the speciality.
Acting as key worker the CNS will use and apply advanced technical knowledge of cancer and treatment within the speciality to oversee and co-ordinate services, personalise the pathway of care for individual patients to ensure the complex information and support needs of patients and families are addressed.
Leads by example and delivers specialist education and training to other professionals involved in patient care, promoting best practice and supporting less experienced colleagues and non cancer specialist to achieve high quality personalised core for people living with cancer, UK nationals or other persons with a right of abode have an eligible residency status if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK or the British Overseas Territories, or the Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of the apprenticeship.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing a DBS application is met by the successful applicant/s. DBS costs are recovered via salary deduction following starting in post.

The amount would vary depending on the level required: Standard Disclosure £21.50+£6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50+£6.50 (please be aware the additional sum is an administration fee and may increase due to inflation). This will be deducted from your salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
